Droga pod Reglami: ideal for a family walk
August in Zakopane has its own rhythm. In the valleys, the scent of resin and raspberries fills the air, on the peaks you can still see remnants of snow, and the sound of conversations, laughter, and footsteps of tourists floats in the air. It is the time of the height of summer – long days and warm evenings when the Tatras seem closer than ever. This is the best time to take the Trail under the Regls – a route that requires no effort but gives everything that makes a Tatra walk beautiful: panorama, peace, and connection with nature.
A Trail for Everyone – from Biały Valley to Kuźnice
Droga pod Reglami is one of the most well-known and loved walking trails in Zakopane. It stretches at the foot of the regle – the lower part of the Tatras – and connects several valleys: Biały, Strążyska, Ku Dziura, and za Bramką.
It is a wide, hardened path about 9 km long, gently leading through forests, meadows, and clearings. Perfect for a family walk, a bicycle ride, or a morning jog with a view of Giewont.
Summer light and the panorama of the Tatras
In August, the sun stands high, and the Tatras are bathed in golden reflections. Droga pod Reglami runs along the edge of the forest, so now and then a view of the panorama of Giewont and the Red Peaks opens before your eyes. These are moments worth stopping for a while – to look, breathe, simply be. The morning light falls obliquely on the meadows, illuminating the mist that has not yet dissipated. In the evening, Giewont takes on an orange hue – even regular trail users slow down to capture this light with their camera or simply to remember it.A trail that connects – not only valleys
Droga pod Reglami has something other trails do not: it is a meeting place. Here walkers with children, runners, cyclists, photographers, and local residents with dogs cross paths. For some, it is a morning training; for others, a walk after dinner – a daily ritual of Zakopane. Along the route, you will find many spots where you can stop to rest – benches, clearings, viewpoints. And if you want to add a bit of adventure to your walk, just turn into one of the side valleys. Each of them has its character:- Strążyska Valley – with a legendary view of Giewont,
- Biały Valley – cool and quiet, perfect in the heat,
- Valley za Bramką – smaller, but full of charm and peace.
For runners and cyclists
In summer, Droga pod Reglami is a true paradise for active people. The wide, even surface and gentle elevation changes make it an ideal route for running in nature. Many athletes choose it for their morning warm-up – running lightly and rhythmically between the forest wall and the view of Giewont, with a feeling of spaciousness. Cyclists also have their place here. The trail is suitable for both mountain and trekking bikes, and the relaxed pace allows enjoying the landscape. On hot days, the shade of trees and the proximity of streams act as natural refreshment.Family walk in the rhythm of summer
August is the month of family trips, and Droga pod Reglami perfectly fits into this holiday atmosphere. Without steep climbs, with the possibility of stopping in a clearing, having a picnic, or taking pictures with a panorama of the Tatras – it is a trail that connects generations. Children will find space here to run and observe nature, and adults – a break from the hustle and bustle of Krupówki. Just bring a basket with sandwiches, a blanket, and a thermos with tea to spend a few hours here in the most beautiful surroundings.Mountain summer up close
Droga pod Reglami is more than a walk. It is a way to feel the Tatras without climbing peaks. To hear the sound of streams, see how the light dances on spruces, and how the scent of the forest changes depending on the time of day.In summer, this trail has something incredibly soothing – it reminds you that in the Tatras, it is not just about conquering, but about being.
About calm steps, conversations without rush, and looking toward Giewont, which from this perspective looks like the guardian of the entire Podhale.
