June 2025

June in the Strążyska Valley has something of the first smile of summer. Still without crowds, still calm, yet already fully sunny. It is a time when the Tatras are just waking up from their spring sleep – the paths are dry, the streams babble louder than usual, and the air carries the promise of long, bright days. A walk through the Strążyska Valley at this time is like a return to simplicity. To the rhythm of steps, the scent of spruces, and the sound of water bouncing off the stones. From the entrance, where the trail begins unassumingly at the end of Zakopane, to the Strążyska Glade, extends a roughly 2-kilometer route that can be walked in less than an hour. But this is no time for rushing.

It is most beautiful here early in the morning. Mists drift between the trees as if they do not yet want to give way to the sun. Drops of dew on the ferns sparkle like tiny jewels, and the silence is broken only by the singing of birds. When the first rays of the sun begin to illuminate the valley floor, the whole scene looks like a painting – soft light, greenery in a thousand shades, and in the distance, beyond the trees, the majestic Giewont emerges. This view – Giewont from Polana Strążyska – is one of those Tatra snapshots that stay in memory forever. In the summer, under the June sun, its rocky silhouette seems almost tangible.

In June, the greenery of the valley is intense, lush, almost hypnotic. The spruces form a green tunnel, the ferns reach knee-high, and among them – mountain flowers, bellflowers, lilies of the valley, rare species of mosses. This is a place where you can truly breathe – literally and figuratively. The air smells of resin and moisture, and every breath reminds you that the Tatras are not only ridges and peaks. They are also valleys – quiet, gentle, full of life.

Choose your place for a comfortable stay in Zakopane.
